Landmark University School of Postgraduate Studies

Welcome Word from the Dean

Having graduated two sets of Undergraduate students, the University Senate in its 37th meeting on the 8th of September, 2015 approved the commencement of School of Postgraduate Studies in Landmark University. However, the School could not take off immediately due to some administrative and logistic challenges between National University Commission (NUC) and Landmark University (LMU). The erstwhile Vice-Chancellor Prof. Aize .O. Obayan and the then Dean Professor Charity Aremu (September 2015- August 2016) worked assiduously with the Postgraduate Working Group to make all requirements and learning facilities available for the attainment of approval by the NUC.

On August 25, 2016, Professor Olusola O. Agbede was appointed to take over the leadership of the Working Group from Professor C. O. Aremu. Thereafter, the University Leadership approved the invitation of National Universities Commission (NUC) to verify the available programmes in the University to determine their readiness for the take-off of the SPS. This was in the last quarter of 2017. Consequently, 13 programmes were approved by NUC for the initial take-off of SPS. Having produced four sets of pathfinders (Graduates) and preparing for the release of the fifth set, the University has put some logistics in place to commence the postgraduate studies in the 2018/2019 academic session.

The Postgraduate School Board, vested with oversight responsibilities was inaugurated by the 3rd Substantive Vice Chancellor, Prof. Adeniyi Olayanju ably assisted by the Registrar, Dr. Azubuike Ezenwoke on Wednesday, 10th January 2018. Members of the 11-man Board are drawn from the University Senate, School of Postgraduate Studies, as well as the three (3) Colleges of the University.

Our quest for the establishment of a world-class school of Postgraduate studies is captured in our Vision, Mission and Philosophy.

The School of Postgraduate Studies focuses on the attainment of new frontiers in training, scholarship, research and innovation that will lead to major discoveries, breakthrough and breaking new grounds in various fields of academia, industry and government.

Our postgraduate studies cover all the three Colleges of Landmark University, namely: Agriculture, Sciences and Engineering, Business and Social Sciences where there are specific programmes and advanced courses from where students can make scientific enquires, impart knowledge and skills under conducive and state-of-the-art facilities in the laboratories and the fields. In all, the Postgraduate School runs PGD, Masters and Ph.D. degrees as approved by the National University Commission. In the voice of our Vice Chancellor, we, therefore say, “come thou with us and we will do thee good: for the Lord hath spoken good concerning us.”Num 10: 29b.

Professor O. O. Agbede
